## Working on now

- BUROV remains focused on designing, editing and manufacturing high-end French-made armchairs and sofas.
- The company’s publicly described current geographic market is France, Belgium and Switzerland; an older catalogue documented a broader export footprint, so the present-day wider-market status is unverified.
- Manufacturing is described as fully integrated at the Candé, Maine-et-Loire factory, with Parisian design heritage and French production.
- The brand is also associated with reissuing iconic 1950s/60s models by Geneviève Dangles and Christian Defrance.

## Summary

BUROV was a French manufacturer of high-end armchairs and sofas, originally founded in 1948 in Paris [1][2][3]. The company designed and produced luxury furniture, specializing in molded polyurethane foam technology and proprietary suspension systems [1][4]. It sold its products primarily to high-end residential customers through specialized retailers, and to professional clients in the hospitality and yachting industries [1][5][6]. In 2014, the company was acquired by a group of investors led by Alain Damais [5][7]. Following a period of financial difficulty, the company and its factory in Candé, Maine-et-Loire, closed permanently in July 2020 after failing to find a buyer during liquidation [8].
